Geto Boys pioneering member DJ Ready Red passes at 53

Collins Adam Leysath, better known in the Hip Hop world as DJ Ready Red of the pioneering group Geto Boys passed yesterday, Friday, August 24th, according to longtime partner Willie D from complications of a heart attack.

Ready Red, pioneering DJ and producer of most of Geto Boys’ early music catalogue, was foundational to the sound and influence since the group’s inception alongside Scarface, Willie D and Bushwick Bill. His debut began with the group’s first few foundational full lengths including, Making Trouble (1988), Grip It! On That Other Level (1989) and The Geto Boys (1990).

Red would eventually part ways with the group due to financial complications with their record label, however remained active as a legendary Houston based dj until his recent passing.
