The Soul of Seattle

February 7, 2020 @ 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

A celebration of some of the most prominent chefs of color in Seattle.
Two-time James Beard Award-winning chef Edouardo Jordan created The Soul of Seattle to help foster relationships and empower the community with the greater Seattle area through food. His goal is to shed light on the amazing food and beverage establishments in Seattle that are operated by people of color. Seattle is an amazing food city in which some of the most talented chefs and curators in the country create the fabric of our food scene.
Chef Jordan is thrilled to collaborate with fellow James Beard Award-winning food author and historian, Toni Tipton-Martin, who uses cultural heritage and cooking for social change. Toni focuses on building a healthier community through her books, classes, and foundation.
The event will begin with a walk through the gallery of the Northwest African American Museum where guests will be greeted by 10 local chefs of color showcasing their culinary talents through food that best represents them. Additionally there will be local beverage industry folks ranging from brewers, vineyards, distillers, and coffee folk, a silent auction, and additional activities.
VIP dinner guests will partake in a multi-course dinner curated by Chef Jordan and Toni-Tipton Martin that will highlight two centuries of African American ancestral food.

We are trying to raise $200,000 for organizations that empower youth of color in Seattle. This year, all proceeds will be donated to The Urban League and The Rainier Scholars.
