Each year, 206 Zulu works in conjunction with El Central de la Raza to host Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Latinos (and others) living in the United States to pay tribute and remember those who have passed. This year 206 Zulu’s alter honored over 80 of Hip Hop’s revered, locally and nationally, with an intricately decorated alter lined with sugar skulls, marigolds, and food offerings. The event took place November 1st, and the exhibit remains on display for the entire month which generally brings about 2,000 viewers including students from neighboring schools, families and community residents.
