Breakin’ 30th Anniversary Screening / 2014 Hip Hop History Month Kickoff

Commemorate the 30th anniversary of the classic film Breakin’ at this screening with cast member Boogaloo Shrimp in attendance!

In the 1984 cult classic Breakin’, a struggling young jazz dancer gets her big break when she meets up with two breakdancers, forming a powerful performance trio that quickly becomes the sensation of street crowds. Features ICET in his film debut as a club MC.

As part of this special screening, a panel discussion and Q&A with Michael “Boogaloo Shrimp” Chambers—an American dancer and actor known for his role as “Turbo” in Breakin’ and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo—will follow the film.

Then, watch the real thing as local breakdancers bust some moves in a reallife dance cypher!

An 8 minute preview of the Northwest hiphop documentary Top Left by local filmmakers Georgio Brown and Scott Macklin will proceed the feature film.
