Station Space Grand Opening!

Please join us on November 11 at 11 a.m. for the grand unveiling of STATION SPACE, a groundbreaking youth-centric arts facility within the historic King Street Station.

The program from 11a.m. -12 p.m. will include remarks by Sir Mix-A-Lot as well as youth and leaders from each Station Space partner organization, followed by an open house for community members to tour Station Space and explore how youth can plug in. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be available.

Boasting a magnificent 10,000 square feet, this avant-garde project revitalizes the 120-year-old train station landmark, introducing a fresh lease of life. Step inside to explore top-notch amenities, including a state-of-the-art recording studio, a versatile black box theater, a dedicated luthier workshop, and so much more. Aspiring to be the nucleus for artistic growth in Seattle, the facility will host up to six leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to youth arts.

Pioneering partners like Cultural Space Agency, Totem Star, Red Eagle Soaring, The Rhapsody Project, Wh!psmart, and the Jackson Street Music Program exemplify the spirit of Black-, Women-, and/or Indigenous-led initiatives and have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. The STATION SPACE concept is born out of the desire to infuse creative dynamism into a renowned civic space. It’s crafted to map out a journey for artists and cultural creatives, guiding them from their early school days right through to flourishing in a gig-based arts and creative economy. This groundbreaking venture became a reality thanks to a 60-year lease agreement with the Cultural Space Agency and the City of Seattle.

Meticulously designed by SKL Architecture and constructed by Sellen Construction, the facility stands not just as a structure but as a beacon of community collaboration. It encapsulates the dreams and hopes of numerous individuals and organizations, all united by a shared goal: nurturing an inclusive and accessible cultural epicenter in Seattle.
